TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE
TCM is current name for an ancient system of health care from China. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is based on a concept of balanced Qi (pronounced “chee”). or vital energy, that is believed to flow throughout the body. Qi is proposed to regulate a person’s spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical balance and to be influenced by the opposing forces of yin (negative energy) and yang (positive energy). Disease is proposed to results from the flow of Qi being disrupted and yin and yang becoming imbalanced. Among the components of TCM are herbal and nutritional therapy, restorative physical exercises, meditation, acupuncture, and remedial massage.
Auricular Therapy:
Auricular therapy is a needleless therapy that uses pressure seeds or magnets to stimulate acupuncture points found in the ear that relate to specific parts of the body. Simulation of these points exerts therapeutic effects to those parts of the body to which they are associated.

Gua-sha is a non-invasive technique of applying friction to the skin with a specialized tool with smooth edges. Short strokes are used along various areas of the body to increase blood circulation and clear metabolic wastes congesting the surface tissues and muscle fibers. Gua-sha therapy feels a bit like deep massage, and effectively releases muscle tension, tightness and constriction while relieving pain and increasing mobility. Patches of red skin that appear which will quickly fade within 48 hours.
Cupping:
Cupping is an ancient Chinese form of deep tissue massage in which a partial vacuum is created in cups placed on the skin either by means of heat or suction. Cupping has been found to affect the body up to four inches into the tissues, causing tissues to release toxins and activate the lymphatic system. Although cupping can leave round marks that look like bruises, they usually clear within a week, and the procedure is not painful during or after therapy. Cupping is particularly helpful for those with stubborn muscle stiffness.
Chinese Herbs:
Herbology is traditionally one of the more important modalities utilized in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Each herbal medicine supplement is a cocktail of many herbs tailored to the individual patient’s symptoms. Supplements are available in tea or pill form.
